the lake district in the morning

The Lake District

A fabulous rural part of England and lovely place to spend your summer holidays. If you are feeling fit, the plan could be to do lots of outdoor activities in the hills, so some good walking boots will be needed for exploring the UK's largest national park and if you are feeling really energetic then why not try mountain biking, climbing, walking, kayaking and canoeing facilities that are on offer.

There are many popular attractions in the lake district which include the Grizedale sculpture trail, a steamer cruise along Ullswater, and a visit to Beatrix Potter's home in Ambleside. Saying all this, remember to bring some Kendal Mint Cake to keep those energy levels up.

Mumsnetters say: "I love the Lake District, and so do my children. We're going on our first foreign holiday in more than 10 years this year, but it was very much booked on the condition that we can manage a week in the Lakes too."

Place to stay:

The Lake District has a whole host of place to park up your caravan and spend a relaxing time in, these include small boutique caravan sites to much larger sites that incorporate a whole host of facilities including swimming pools, sports and fitness activities and lovely restaurants. There a great variety of options to choose from, that will suit any budget.
