Caravan Gadgets

Best caravan gadgets to enhance your caravanning break

Aside from your essential Ryhno Mover remote control caravan mover, there are a host of handy gadgets for caravanners available on the market. Here are some of our favourites:

Portable solar charger

Once charged, this solar charger can power an iPod for up to 18 hours, a mobile phone for up to 44 hours and PDA for up to 22 hours. What’s more - the power is free as it comes via its solar cells. Ideal for remote areas where mains electric may not be accessible, the device holds its battery charge for up to three months.

Mini washing machine

You may have come away to escape the domestic chores but a break of any length will inevitably mean some washing needs to be done. You could do worse that consider investing in mini electric washer – that is both space-saving and economical to use. Ideal for baby clothes or smalls, this one simply plugs into any 240v mains outlet and is safe and easy to use.

Handy apps

Most people own smartphones these days and there are some really handy apps they can download which could come in handy when on your travels with caravan in tow. The SiteSeeker app, for example, has been produced by the Camping and Caravanning Club, so users can search for sites by location, price and facilities, and also book online. Other apps give information on the nearest cash point, provide traffic updates and let you know the best direction to point your satellite dish. If you want a spirit level to ensure your caravan is horizontal or details of the nearest butcher for planning your BBQ – there’s an app for that too.

Mini oven

There are a number of makers of portable electric ovens on the market but Remoska seem to be the brand many caravanners choose. This simple but highly-efficient electric mini-oven has a heating element in the lid, which produces fantastic culinary results and is incredibly economical. It now also comes in a variety of colours.

Moisture Muncher

To prevent mould, mildew, and musty odours developing in your caravan try a rechargeable dehumidifier that helps by absorbing moisture out of the atmosphere. One such device is The Moisture Muncher which can absorb up to 125ml of moisture and be recharged in your microwave.

Lightweight vacuum cleaner

With everyone coming and going, keeping carpets and upholstery clean is an issue for any self-respecting caravan owner. Get yourself a lightweight, small, vacuum-cleaner that can be easily stored and used to keep things spick and span.
